McGuff Company Receives ACAM Corporate Vision Award

April 12, 2008

ACAM, the American College for Advancement in Medicine presented the ACAM Corporate Vision Award to the McGuff family of companies at ACAM’s Spring Conference in Orlando, Florida, on April 12, 2008.

The ACAM Corporate Vision Award is the highest honor that ACAM can bestow upon one of their corporate partners. The award is given to companies who take an active interest in the Integrative Medicine industry, whose products or services are integral to the physicians who practice integrative medicine.

The presentation was made at the member/vendor luncheon by ACAM President Jeanne Drisko, M.D. and was accepted by Ron McGuff, President and CEO of McGuff family of companies.

Dr. Drisko informed the audience that the McGuff family of companies is comprised of three divisions – the McGuff Company, a medical products distribution company, McGuff Compounding Pharmacy Services and McGuff Pharmaceuticals, a FDA registered and FDA reviewed sterile fill drug manufacturer. These companies provide a wide spectrum of commercial drugs, medical devices and compounded medications used by integrative practioners – worldwide.

She stated that McGuff has gained a reputation among ACAM practioners and peers for its excellent customer service, superior quality products and is known for its continued involvement with ACAM and integrative medicine. In its 29 year association with ACAM, McGuff has provided financial support, technical assistance and a demonstrated willingness to help ACAM whenever needed.

Each division, by design, supports and assures a continued and uninterrupted supply of drugs and medical devices to integrative practioners. McGuff and many of our members are aware of the regulatory bias against many of the commercial and compounded drugs used by ACAM members. McGuff, through its conservative and open relations with FDA and State Boards, has been working within the system to eliminate this bias to assure future product availability as a valued member of the supply chain for physicians, patients, and wholesalers alike. In the pursuit of providing excellent customer care and driving prices down, the McGuff family of companies are continually seeking ways to increase efficiency.

McGuff recognizes the only way to prove its commitment to quality, quality products and service, to integrative practioners and government authority is by independent 3rd party inspection and accreditation of its facilities and employees.

The McGuff Company has recently received the coveted Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributor (VAWD) designation by the National Association of State Board of Pharmacies. This accreditation program is the only one of its kind offering assurances to maintain the integrity of the U.S. drug distribution system.

McGuff Compounding Pharmacy Services has been certified to meet the International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001-2000 for quality systems. Additionally, the McGuff Compounding Pharmacy is one of only 38 compounding pharmacies in the nation that have met the rigorous standards to be accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board.

McGuff Pharmaceuticals, which manufacturers Ascor L 500 and Ascor L NC Ascorbic Acid for injection, is also certified to meet ISO 9001:2000 quality standards and is FDA inspected to meet the rigorous standards of Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations, Current Good Manufacturing Practices for sterile drugs.

She continued, "Here to accept this award on behalf of the McGuff family of companies is Ronald M. McGuff, CEO. Ron, as everybody knows him, has personally attended 51 ACAM conferences and has developed a unique understanding and compassion for the exuberance and frustrations that most ACAM physicians experience in their day-to-day practices."
